NAFA! Vanessa Tan! dwioejm!
woke up at the wrong side of the bed this morning and had to deal with many T-shirt issues, i guess everyone has their off moments >< i pray that i'll never have to miss training again (3 year full attendance record down the drain) it's all about being with platoonmates, yeah. and teeth, gah.. i'm probably going to get braces and a complementary voice change soon.
went back to school at 6.30pm for the IT talk from Vanessa Tan. initially, i signed up because there were only 2 people going and it would kinda look bad (every person counts, right?). weird reason, but that's just me. a part of me was also interested in learning more about online communities. and heck, i live nearby.
the talk turned out to be much more eye-opening then i imagined it would be. vanessa covered many things but mostly shared personal anecdotes about her blogging experiences. before the talk, i never really pondered over the significance of blogging. but if blogging can get someone fired or even provide a means of allowance, there must be more to it then we think.
the talk wasn't just about blogging, vanessa also introduced some tech stuff to us. features like news feed and google maps (singapore) can really help in research. anyone heard of something called "Second Life"? it's like a visual version of a chatroom, there are so many aspects to it that i can't recount at this time of night. go check it out yourself. if you're interested in gizmos, books or just random issues you can go and read her blog. her stuff is really interesting! i'll have to link her when i have more time (rushing this post).
Q: Why do people blog?
A: The same reason why cavemen paint on walls.
It's all about self-expression.
Speaking of which, i went to the NAFA art exhibition on thursday and saw many lovely pieces of art. all the creative displays enriched the senses, i enjoyed it. it you have time this saturday, go and check it out. even if you aren't interested in joining in future, you can still appreciate all the talents. i can't possibly describe all those outstanding art pieces >< wish i had a camera with me (doubt photographs were allowed anyway). it was also very useful because i'm doing fashion cluster for RS. oh yeah, we were also given a talk by grace, a graduate from NAFA who is a fashion designer. it's cool to meet new people.
In all, these two events were really insightful and i hope to attend more in future. but for now, i need to zonk out. more scrapdoodles to be uploaded whenever.
